TRAINING

I began my studies initially in the field of developmental psychology, specialising in Children & Families. I was fortunate to work in a project within Millbrook, Southampton which supported children and families facilitating parenting skills to increase a child and parents attachment quality. 

This really sparked my passion for wanting to support others to find ways of feeling better about themselves. 

I embarked upon a Diploma Course at Southampton University in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy. This was a real eye opener for me, I learnt so much about Pertuska Clarkson's 5 relational Model and about myself, due to the mandatory (and I believe essential part of psychotherapy training) requirement to attend at least 50 hours of personal therapy. 

After receiving my Diploma I went on to study a further year of training and was  awarded a BA (Hons) in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling via Winchester University.

I worked in several settings, including private practice, after my initial studies, offering therapy to individuals and couples and then securing a role as a therapist within The Priory Hospital, Southampton. I was promoted to Senior Therapist during my time here and completed in patient assessments, designed and delivered daily groupwork programmes and individual therapy. Working within general Psychiatry meant that I could support a patients with a broad variety of mental health issues. 

Whilst working with several cognitive behavioural therapists, I became increasingly interested in this approach. I embarked on further study and gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Severe Mental Health problems via Southampton University.

I hold accreditation status with both the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies) and BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy). To maintain accreditation statuses I attend regular training to ensure I am continuing professional Development.  

I have been working independently, running a successful private practice clinic for over 15 years.
